What’s the difference between hiring a personal chef and a catering company?

The main difference is the use of a central/commissary kitchen. 

Caterers prepare most items offsite and transport food and tableware to and from the service site. 

Personal chefs use the kitchen and dining ware onsite to create and prepare a fresh, gourmet meal, from stove to plate. 

Personal chefs can offer a fresher, more intimate and entertaining dining experience.

What’s the difference between hiring a personal chef and a catering company?

Grocery prices fluctuate regularly and who wants a locked-in meal plan for their private chef experience? No fun!

We have curated an estimated general cost per person based on your party size and using the Signature 3 course family-style menu. With current market prices, my labor, and a 20% gratuity - I estimate about $120-$165 per person 

Grocery prices fluctuate regularly and who wants a locked-in meal plan for their private chef experience? No fun!

We have curated an estimated general cost per person based on your party size and using the Signature 3 course family-style menu. With current market prices, my labor, and a 20% gratuity - I estimate about $120-$165 per person for a group of 8 people. Prices increase to about $160-$195 or more per person for parties of 6 or fewer, and may decrease to about $110. per person with parties greater than 8. 

This pricing breakdown includes...

 a first course (choose one appetizer or salad or soup), 1 main course, 1 dessert. 

Of course, I want you to order as much food as you'd like, but this gives you a ball park figure on what to expect after the meal. I am always more than willing to calculate a more precise quote, and work with budget concerns as well.

*Please note...Holidays will be charged at a 1.75X higher rate.


Labor Cost

Rates start at $70/person 

(minimum labor charge is $560)

If needed servers/cooks can be brought in for additional fees.

       13 - 20 people - $380 - $900

Gratuity

20% of total bill (groceries + labor)

Invoice Example:

Grocery/Food Bill: $250.00

Labor: $70 X 8 guests = $560.00

Gratuity: 20% of total bill (20% of grocery and labor combined)

-Deposit received: 40% of estimated billing

Example Bill Formula: 

Grocery bill + labor cost + gratuity (20% of food and labor) - deposit 

= final bill 

Accepted Forms of Payment: 

Cash, Venmo, Zelle, and Credit/Debit Cards are accepted (3% processing fee added for Credit Cards)

A 40% deposit of the private chef / personal chef service total is due at the time of booking. This payment locks in the cook date and ensures that the chef has the funds provided to purchase groceries and other expenses. 


Deposit MUST be received within 30 days of menu quote to secure your date.

Again, your private chef for a dinner party serves the Boulder, Winter Park, Granby, Breckenridge, and Summit County.

I have been known to cook farther away, travel rates will apply.

The deposit is fully refundable 30 or more days from the party date/appointment


3-29 days from the appointment deposit is refundable, less a $150 cancellation fee.


Cancellations within 48 hours of the appointment are not refundable.
